Hofstätter’s vineyards span across both the east and west sides of the Adige Valley and extend to highly elevated regions such as the Valle di Ronchi in southern Trentino. The estate even stretches to the steep slopes of the Saar in Germany’s renowned Mosel wine region. These diverse vineyard sites, located at elevations ranging from 250 to 850 meters above sea level, benefit from a variety of microclimates—cool mountain air, warm southerly winds, and different degrees of sunshine—allowing for the unique development of each grape variety.

The complexity of Hofstätter wines is further enhanced by the diverse soil structures found in these regions. From clay, gravel, sand, and porphyry in Alto Adige to limestone and slate in the Mosel, these soils provide the ideal growing conditions for the winery’s impressive portfolio of wines.

With great vision and entrepreneurial spirit, Martin Foradori Hofstätter expanded the family’s reach. In 2014, he acquired the Weingut Dr. Fischer estate in the Mosel, gaining access to world-class Riesling sites. Then, in 2017, he returned to his ancestral roots in Trentino, acquiring the Maso Michei farmstead in the picturesque Valle di Ronchi.

Today, Tenuta J. Hofstätter is one of Alto Adige’s largest family-owned wine estates, recognized for its distinctive terroir and a dedication to producing wines of unparalleled quality.
